Grandma Fonda's Waffles
INGREDIENTS
1 waffle iron (this is pretty important)
1 1/4 cup milk
1 Tbsp melted butter
2 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
a little bit of oil or melted butter to grease the waffle iron
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat waffle iron.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder.
In a medium bowl, whisk eggs until foamy and lighter in color.
Whisk milk and melted butter into eggs.
Pour liquid ingredients into dry and stir until most of the lumps are gone. You wont be able to get it perfectly smooth.
Grease waffle iron with a little bit of oil and butter with a pastry or basting brush.
Spoon 1/2 - 3/4 cup of batter onto waffle iron. Every waffle iron is different so read the instructions before you start.
Waffles usually take about 4 or 5 minutes to cook. Again read the instructions on your waffle iron.
Slather that waffle with butter and syrup. Ryan and I are big fans of Safeway brand blueberry syrup. It’s delicious!
Extra waffles can be wrapped in foil and frozen for later. I recommend cooling them on a wire rack so that they don’t get soggy. You can reheat them in a toaster oven or conventional oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
