Pan Seared Tilapia

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tilapia fillets

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • ground pepper to taste

  • juice of 1/2 lemon

  • 3 Tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp chopped fresh cilantro or parsley

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pat tilapia dry with a paper towel.

  2. Mix spices together in a small dish.

  3. Coat both sides of fillets with salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, basil and oregano. 

  4. Squeeze lemon juice over the top of the fillets.

  5. In a large non-stick skillet on medium heat, cook tilapia in olive oil for 3-4 minutes on each side depending on the thickness of the fillets. 

  6. Plate fish and garnish with fresh herbs and an extra wedge of lemon.
